My Favorite Hair Products of 2015

As I look back on my 2015 natural hair products, I realize how far my hair and my hair routine have come.  My first year as a natural was about trial and error and trying out lots of different products.  I’ve settled into what works for me in year two, and here is a list of natural hair products that I used most in 2015.

el Wrap Full Dusty Rose Jersey1. Breezy Tee Jersey t-shirt hair towel—We created our business this year and our jersey hair towels have been the best addition to wash day.  I LOVE that my hair is not frizzy, should I choose to do a wash and go, but more than that I love knowing my hair is no longer being damaged by terry cloth.  I also love using it as a head wrap and going about my business as my hair dries.

shea butter2. Shea butter—Where would my hair be without Shea butter? Even when I try other products, I always come back to my homemade Shea mix.  This year I decided to add sweet orange oil to the mix, so the smell is divine and it leave my hair soft.  I apply Shea when I twist my hair and occasionally after I spray it with water to seal in the moisture.

3. Apple cider vinegar—Good ol’ ACV. It’s cheap and effective.  When I have too much buildup or my scalp is feeling a little itchy, apple cider vinegar does the trick.  Nothing makes my scalp feel cleaner.  The smell goes away as soon as I apply conditioner.  So don’t let that deter you. Homemade natural hair products are the best.  Give it a try.

Shea Moisture4. Shea Moisture JBCO—I was so late to the Shea Moisture party, but this year I finally gave it a go. I fell in love with the Jamaican Black Castor Oil line.  It smells fantastic!  I’m quite fond of the leave in conditioner and will certainly use more of it in the future.  The deep conditioner is good too.  The pudding defined my curly so beautifully that I will continue to use that as well.

Rhassoul Clay5. Rhassoul clay—Giving up shampoo was something I did in year one, and turned to Rhassoul. I love that it leaves my hair clean and soft.  I don’t miss shampoo at all.  Mixing the clay with aloe vera juice and a little of my oil mix makes for a really nice cleanser.

6. Tea Tree oil— When it comes to natural hair products, this product was a welcome addition to my routine. I’m still not in love with the smell, nor is my husband, but it goes away quickly.  I mixed this with water and whenever my hair is feeling dry, I spray it with this mix.

accessories-hair-dryer7. Lastly is my fabulous Curlformers soft hooded hair dryer. I use this to deep condition my hair or do the occasional hot oil treatment.  I put it on, plug in my headphones and let it work its magic.  I also love that it’s easy to store in its little pouch.
