Chanel spring summer 2020 makeup collection is all about desert sunsets. That is the inspiration for this release. There are beautiful spring hues across all the products, and I grabbed the Warm Memories Les 4 Ombres Eyeshadow Palette, Longwear Liquid Eyeshadows in Vastness and Rising Sun, as well as the new spring highlighter, Eclat Du Desert Illuminating Powder. I also tried out the Wayne Goss 2019 Holiday Brush, which was a perfect fit for the highlighter. Rocking our Breezy Tee Cocoa Blush Boho Headband, I dug in!
I love Chanel’s Les 4 Ombres eyeshadow palettes. They are incredibly dependable, chic, quick and pigmented. Those are things I expect from these eye palettes, and the Warm Memories palette delivered just what I was looking for. The mattes, shimmers and satin shadows in this quad were inspired by classic Chanel tweed. There is a beautiful coral shadow, medium tone mauve shadows, and a deep pigmented eyeshadow to add some depth and smokeyness to your look, should you choose. It’s a perfect color story for spring.
The Longwear Liquid Eyeshadows are beautiful to wear on their own, or with other liquid, or powder shadows. They are so incredibly easy to blend out, with a sophisticated bit of sparkle. Being a woman in my 40s, sparkle is not something I gravitate towards, ever, but Chanel managed to give me just enough to still feel sophisticated. These liquid shadow dry down quickly, and stay in place. You can swipe your finger across the dried shadows and see for yourself. There are 5 liquid eyeshadows in the collection.
Rising Sun is a beautiful coral color liquid eyeshadow, and perfect for spring. You can blend it out completely for a more subtle wash of color, or leave it less blended to get more of that coral hue.
Vastness is a lovely deep mauve color. I love this to add a bit of smoke and depth to an eye look. This too is lovely on its own, or playing with others. What is interesting is with just two liquid shadows, it looked like I was wearing at least 4. So, play around with them for different looks.
The Eclat Du Desert Illuminating Powder is the highlighter from the collection. It is a light peach color, but strangely on me wears almost silver. It is incredibly pigmented, so I advise going in with a light hand, and building up. It has a soft, powdery texture, but on the face, it blends out beautifully.
For this highligter, I used my Wayne Goss 2019 Holiday Brush. It’s a beautiful, big, fluffy fan brush, that is perfect for applying highlighter, and so many other things. The product picks up a nice amount of product, without doing too much work. So, gentle taps should cover you beautifully. Wayne Goss releases a holiday brush each year, with Beautylish, and they’ve become collector’s items. They do sell out, so jump on these handcrafted, natural bristle brushes, when they are available for sale. You won’t be disappointed in his brushes, as they are stunning.
