he Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips 2 collection is filled with eleven new lipsticks shades, in two formulas. I grabbed four! In a first for the brand, the lipsticks come in 5 custom designed, refillable, cases. Even better, this collection has a wonderful, charitable, twist. With our full Black T-shirt Hair Towel Wrap, fashioned into a cute head wrap on my head, I dug in.
Both the original Hot Lips collection, as well as this Hot Lips 2 collection, are filled with lipsticks inspired by women, and one man this time, who inspire Charlotte. There are five Matte Revolution, and five K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipstick shades. Then they’ve included their first ever lip balm in the collection.
Charlotte Tilbury has pledged 1 million pounds, from the sale of Hot Lips, to Women for Women International. They help helping women survivors of war rebuild their lives. I love that a big beauty brand is giving back in such a big way, and it certainly was incentive for me to pick up a couple of lipsticks.
Then there was the matter of waste in the beauty industry. The amount of waste created from makeup products is astounding. So, knowing that there is a sustainable aspect to these lipsticks is exciting to me. I love knowing that we can keep our cases, when one lipstick is finished, and refill it. While there are certainly brands who have sustainable makeup products, I hope the bigger brands are beginning to think in a more responsible way. I was happy that Charlotte Tilbury have made these products refillable, because less waste will be created because of it.

Now, let’s talk lipsticks!!
Glowing Jen—This is a beautiful, rich rose shade, inspired by Jennifer Aniston. It’s incredibly creamy, moisturizing on the lips, and has beautiful color payoff. It’s works beautifully with my complexion, with and without a lip liner. This one has K.I.S.S.I.N.G formula.
Viva La Vergara— This one is a gorgeous soft wine color, inspired by Sofia Vergara. On me, there is even a purple note. The muted red lipstick is in the Matte Revolution formula, and sits very comfortably on the lips. It is a very creamy matte that is a bit sheerer than the other colors. I needed more swipes to get the color payoff I wanted, but once there, it was gorgeous. For people like me, who are not big on red lipsticks, this is a beautiful compromise. It’s not too red, and has warmer notes. Really, really lovely!
Angel Alessandra – In the K.I.S.S.I.N.G formula, this peachy nude lipstick was inspired by Alessandra Abrosio.
I love a peachy nude, and it’s also very creamy and moisturizing on my lips, and looks perfect with a liner. It is too light for me to wear it on its own, but nonetheless, it is gorgeous, and it’s my perfect kind of nude lipstick! Charlotte is known for having some of the best nude lipstick shade around.
Carina’s Star— In a beautiful coral, this lipstick is in the Matte Revolution formula as well. So, while not as creamy on the lips as the other formula, it is still a creamy matte. It feels incredibly comfortable on the lips, and gave me a lovely bit of color on the lips. Inspired by Carina Lau, this was the lipstick I may have been looking forward to most. But, there was a bit of confusion.**
The packaging is incredibly cute. There are five custom cases that feature golds, reds and blacks, in different and bold designs. If you were going to keep a case for a long time, you won’t get bored with these. I thought it was an added touch to this line of lipsticks. I will say, they didn’t feel as luxurious as I expected them to. For a luxury brand and product, I wish the case was a bit heavier, and felt more luxury. As cute as they are, they should be more substantial, for the price.
That said, these lipsticks are incredibly easy to refill. They make a popping noise when they are both popped out, and more importantly in, so you know your lipstick is secure. The refillable lipsticks come with a clear plastic top to keep them safe.
**I ordered the Hot Lips Kit, which consists of one lipstick in a case, and one refill color. On Charlotte Tilbury’s site, there is only a picture of the red leopard print case in the listing. There is no mention, or pictures of other cases. One is lead to believe that the lipstick you choose to come in the case, will come in a red leopard print case. In fact, that is why I ordered the kit, because I loved the red leopard print, but didn’t want the lipsticks they came with. So, when I saw the kit option, I jumped at it. Lo and behold, when my order was delivered, Carina’s Star was in the case it’s in its individual listing, not the red leopard case. I was extremely disappointed. The case is not horrible, it’s just not what I wanted, and it was incredibly frustrating that the brand was not clearer about what you will get.
So, if you’re considering the kit, like I was, for the red leopard case, just know any lipstick you choose will come in the same case it comes in, in its individual listing.
While that was disappointing, the lipsticks themselves did not disappoint, and I’d certainly recommend them.
