Danessa Myricks is a fellow black owned business owner, who is also a fantastic makeup artist and photographer. Like many of us, she wears many hats and wears them well. She loves to play with light and glow, and making sure the skin looks great. Her tutorials on Instagram are thorough and informative.
First up is the Prism FX Hydrating Lotion as my primer. It has a beautiful sheen to it, and works not just as a primer but is perfect for those no makeup days, when you want to spruce your skin up just a bit. It does feel hydrating on the skin and does not disturb the makeup on top. I find it to be a nice primer.
Moving onto the Love & Light Beauty Oil. I absolutely love this oil. It’s perfect for no makeup days. It gives my skin a healthy glow. The beauty oil has a beautiful floral smell, and does not wear greasy. That was great to find out. I got the original color, which is clear, but this oil is available in different colors. It’s lightweight as well, so you don’t have to worry about it feeling heavy on your skin. I apply it with my hands, because I think it’s the easiest way. I will say, the applicator is not the best, so be careful when handling. I would suggest putting it in your hand, and go from there, in terms of your preferred tool. This oil also works so beautifully under Danessa Myricks Beauty Vision Cream foundation, or any foundation, when you want a nice glow to your look.
The Vision Cream Cover foundation was perhaps the biggest surprise. Foundations can really be hit or miss, but this foundation is an absolute dream. I wear N07, and it proved to be a perfect foundation color match! It is concentrated, so a little goes a long way. Let me repeat that, a little goes a long way. I would advise you put the smallest amount on the back of your hand and go from there. You can easily overdo it with this product and look like a caked up mess. You can also build it up as you wish. I have never used more than one layer and it leaves my skin looking amazing. It really does. It’s so pigmented, that it covers dark marks with one layer. I’d heard rumblings, about how good this foundation is, and I can only concur. It is said to be a foundation, concealer in one. It does smooth my under eyes out, but because I like to bring brightness to that area, I do still use a concealer. But certainly, if you wanted to get a lighter color, you could then use that as a concealer. The finish is beautiful, and leaves me with full coverage, but not cakey coverage, which is key. It’s my current favorite full coverage makeup. I can’t recommend it enough, especially as a good foundation for dark skin. It has a beautiful color range, and right up there with one of the best liquid foundations I worn, so a wide spectrum of women should be able to find their color.

Once the base is done, I move onto Danessa’s glow products. The Dew Wet Balm is a staple for me. It is a perfect bit of highlighter, when you just want a subtle, glassy finish. I love using it on no makeup days, to just give my cheeks a little umph. I apply with my finger. For the creamy consistency, I find it best. On top of makeup, it has never moved the makeup. It also applies easily, and beautifully, with a brush. This too is available in different colors, but I grabbed the clear one. I’ll certainly be getting more of these. In fact, she just released a beautiful rose water color that is calling my name.
Lastly was the Enlight Illuminator in Attraction. This was the product I’d heard the most about, as one of the best illuminators, and it did not disappoint. It’s a loose highlighting powder, and it is incredibly pigmented. Another product where a little goes a long way. Attraction is a gorgeous copper color and wears beautifully on my skin tone, giving it a stunning glow. It can also be worn on the eyes, or wherever you want some glow. This is available in thirteen colors, so surely there will be one to catch your eyes. It is a magnificent illuminator and if you’re into loose highlighters, this will be for you.
NOTE** I tried the Illuminating Veil, in Queen. It proved to be much too dark for my complexion. I wanted to try a color I didn’t already have, but it didn’t work. So, this is a color I would suggest for deep skin tones. It’s a beautiful, warm, plumish color.
I am thrilled with how the Danessa Myricks Beauty products perform. I continue to say, there is something about a product created by a makeup artist. They know how makeup should perform, and apply that knowledge to their products. I’m looking forward to this brand growing. I highly recommend giving it a try!
