The Pat McGrath Labs Mothership VII Divine Rose has to be the surprise release of the year.  It came out of nowhere, and sold out in a flash.  An exclusive to Selfridges, this rose, gold and bronze Mothershp Palette has lured me into getting another Pat McGrath eye palette.  Wearing our Breezy Tee Black Boho Stretch Head Wrap, I dug in.

To be honest, I’ve held out from buying the recent releases of PMGl.  They’re gorgeous, for sure, but for me, they looked really heavy on the glitter/sparkle and bright colors.  While I can certainly find beauty in them, I knew that I wouldn’t get much use out of them.  Enter the Divine Rose eyeshadow palette.  Thank goodness for timing, that I happened to see this had been released, and rushed to grab one.  At the time of purchase, there was only one photo available, and that was enough to draw me in.  It felt like my speed, with softer colors, that I could wear day or night.  Most importantly, this was an eyeshadow palette I could use a lot.

Four of the shadows, Iridescent Pink 003 (Skin Fetish Kit), Rose Dusk (Sublime palette), Astral Solstice (Midnight Sun palette) and Skinshow Nude (Subliminal palette) have all been featured in other Pat McGrath eye palettes. There are two mattes, and the rest are shimmer eyeshadows, with varying degrees of shimmer/glitter.

As with all Pat McGrath Labs palettes, these are incredibly pigmented eyeshadows.  You don’t have to worry about color payoff if you’re interested in one.  A little bit goes such a long way, and that will ensure you have your palette for a while.  Her shadows are also equally pigmented on any skin tone.  In fact, I remember her saying that was an important thing for her shadows.  She worked to make sure they show up no matter your complexion

My surprise color in the palette is VR Venus Rose.  It is a stunning pinky/gold, with orange shifts.  It is iridescent, and I’m typically not a fan, at all, or iridescent anything.  This shadow worked stunningly in the middle of my lid.  Not too overdone, with gorgeous payoff.  I love a Pat McGrath matte eyeshadow, and the two in the palette did not disappoint, especially the Velouria shade which looks light in the pan, but swatches as a very pretty mauve.  Astral Solstice, although it has a lot of glitter has the coolest effect.  I almost looks wet.  It’s stunning!

I’m glad I passed up on other recent palettes, and held out for one I thought I’d get more use from.  This Divine Rose palette is perfect for every day looks, but you can also get extra umph from it too.  Another stunning, eye palette from Pat McGrath Labs.  I love a good surprise!
