Pat McGrath Labs released their Mthrshp Dark Galaxy Eyeshadow Palette, a Star Wars collaboration, a few weeks ago.  I also picked up the Stars Wars repackaged some of their Lip Fetish Lip Balms in Nude Astral.  Wearing our Breezy Tee Navy Satin Lined Beanie, I dug in.

So,
PMGL teamed up with Star Wars and brought us three eye palettes.  Two were six pan palettes, and the other saw her elusive Decadence Eyeshadow Palette also repackaged in Gold Star Wars Packaging.  Visually, it was another success for Pat McGrath’s over the top, opulence.  I don’t even watch Star Wars anymore (I left that in the 80s), but even I was lured by the packaging.

The Dark Galaxy Eyeshadow palette has six eyeshadows, one matte eyeshadow and six shimmer eyeshadows.  PMGL has my favorite matte formula on the market, and I was a little disappointed to see only one, but if there was only going to be one in this eye palette, it is the perfect one.  It is a color that compliments all the others perfectly.  There is no fallout, it’s so smooth and blendable.

The shimmers are also yummy.  As with any Pat McGrath eyeshadow, they are all incredibly pigmented, and easy to blend.  Some are a little more chunky than others, and the chunky ones have a little fallout.  But, for a stunning PMGL eye, it’s worth it. The more compact shadows had no fallout for me.  The color story of this Dark Galaxy eye palette is sultry, and you can achieve many looks.

The Lip Fetish Lip Balm in Nude Astral is very sparkly, and iridescent.  While it’s not my favorite, because it looks very young on this 40 something year old woman, it does feel nice on the lips.  It’s creamy, feels hydrating and matches the color story of the Dark Galaxy palette perfectly. If you’re into glitter in your lip products, you may like this, but it’s not a great fit for my style, and age.

The packaging is so much fun.  A Star Wars Storm Trooper covers both the palette and lip balm.  The red packaging pulls you in straight away.  So, the cool factor is there. The lip balm is encased in the coolest red bullet, with the signature PMGL lips in black.  So, visually it’s another beaut for the brand.

I have a hunch this palette will be re-released, sometime in the future, in different packaging.
